{"id":2,"date":"2014-08-13T13:30:43","date_gmt":"2014-08-13T13:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iict-space.heig-vd.ch\/mri\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2014-10-27T14:36:03","modified_gmt":"2014-10-27T14:36:03","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/iict-space.heig-vd.ch\/mri\/","title":{"rendered":"Profile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marcos Rubinstein received the Bachelor&#8217;s degree in electronics from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usb.ve\/\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Bolivar University<\/a>, Caracas, Venezuela in 1982, and the Master&#8217;s and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ufl.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Florida<\/a>, Gainesville in 1986 and 1991. In 1992 he joined the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\">Swiss Federal Institute of Technology<\/a>\u00a0in Lausanne, where he was active in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility and lightning in close cooperation with the former Swiss PTT (Post, Telegram, Telegraph). In 1995, he took a position at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisscom.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\">Swisscom<\/a>, where he was involved in numerical electromagnetics and EMC in telecommunications and where he led a number of coordinated projects covering the fields of EMC and biological effects of electromagnetic radiation. In 2001, he accepted a professorship at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hes-so.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland<\/a>, Yverdon-les-bains (HEIG-VD), where he is currently a professor in telecommunications, a member of the Institute for Information and Communication Technologies (IICT) team and the head of the Applied Electromagnetics Group.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Rubinstein is the Chairman of the International Project on Electromagnetic Radiation from Lightning to Tall structures IPLT. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/benthamscience.com\/open\/toascj\/EBM.htm\" target=\"_blank\">The Open Atmospheric Science Journal<\/a>, a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Lightning Protection\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iclp-centre.org\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">ICLP<\/a>, and a member of the International Scientific Committee of International Symposium on Lightning Protection\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iee.usp.br\/sipda\/\" target=\"_blank\">SIPDA<\/a>. In addition, Professor Rubinstein was a Co-Chair of the 2008 European Electromagnetics International Symposium held in Lausanne and the leader of Working Group 2 in European COST Action P18 \u201cThe Physics of Lightning Flash and its Effects\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He is the author or co-author of over 170 scientific publications in reviewed journals and international conferences. He is also the co-author of six book chapters.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Rubinstein is a Fellow of the IEEE. He is the recipient of the best Master&#8217;s Thesis award from the University of Florida, he received the IEEE achievement award for outstanding contributions to the modeling of lightning discharge and its electromagnetic effects, and he is a co-recipient of NASA&#8217;s recognition for innovative technological work.
